Driven by Research & Development
Designed for Future
Driven by a commitment to innovation and advanced materials development, PSW continues to invest in research and development initiatives that shape the future of lightweight metal solutions.
As part of these efforts, PSW has launched its new High Integrity Diecasting Center (HIDC) in Ohio, USA — a dedicated R&D and technology platform focused on advancing semi-solid aluminum and magnesium casting technologies in North America.
Technology Background
WHAT IS Semi-Solid Casting?
Semi-solid casting combines the advantages of conventional high-pressure die casting (HPDC) with enhanced casting integrity.
Instead of injecting fully liquid metal at extremely high speeds, semi-solid casting uses a controlled mixture of solid and liquid metal with a globular (non-dendritic) microstructure to achieve premium castings.
Semi-Solid Casting Alloys
To further support innovative casting, PSW introduced new aluminum and magnesium alloys specifically designed for semi-solid casting. They are engineered for structural performance, sustainability and next-generation lightweighting applications.
